
Reminder: School dismisses at 11:30 tomorrow (Friday, January 15) and there is no school on Monday, January 18.

Child find screenings will be taking place across the Jefferson County region beginning in February. Our scheduled screening date in Bluford is February 23 from 8:30-11:30 at the First Baptist Church. Appointments will be set up for children in the 2.6-5 age group and can set up by calling the school at 618-732-8242.


The University of Illinois Extension has collaborated with SSM Health & Illinois Nutrition Education Program to provide some adult nutrition education. The information regarding the date and time is on the flyer.

Exciting afternoon in the Webber gymnasium! Senior Mia Simmons has officially signed to continue her softball career at Rend Lake College. She is trading her Trojan blue for Warrior red. Mia is an amazing student and athlete! I can’t wait to see where the future takes her.

It was a beautiful day to spend outside with 1st grade during their lunch recess. That group has some serious climbing skills!




BGS kindergarten students were excited to receive an early Christmas gift last Friday. Special thanks to the Bluford Ruritan Club for the donation! The excitement and smiles were priceless. The students expressed a tremendous amount of gratitude for the surprise gift.

The lost and found is growing! The kids haven't picked up these items so we wanted to see if anything looks familiar to parents.

The Christmas program will be quite a bit different this year, but it's in the works! The junior high students are doing a phenomenal job of videoing and editing.


The district is thankful to have received an $11,525 grant from Ameren to improve energy efficiency through insulation and weather stripping. Work was completed last weekend and the district is expected to save approximately $2,500 a year in energy costs.




The district is helping to spread the word about the last food box distribution in Bluford of 2020. Volunteers from Project Mom and Dad have teamed up with Frey Farms and Cusumano and Sons to provide 250 free boxes containing meat, dairy, and produce. Distribution will take place Saturday, December 19, beginning at 8:30 at the New Life Missionary Baptist Church. Elderly, disabled, or homebound residents can call the village hall at 732-8773 before December 17, at 4:00 p.m. to schedule a delivery.

We received a call from the railroad this morning that they will be closing the crossing by the post office again today between 8:30 - 9:00. They said that it most likely WILL NOT be open by the time school is over.
