Tuesday was our 101st day of school. How else would first grade celebrate? A couple of Cruellas and their pups!

In the News ....

If you have a student who will be eligible for kindergarten next school year who is NOT currently in the Bluford Pre-K program, please call the grade school office at 732-8242 to be added to the screening list. With COVID, our Pre-K numbers are lower than normal, so we are hoping that there are some more kindergarten students out there. Students will need to turn 5 before September 1, to be KG. eligible.

Here is a preview of the timelines for high school sports. We hope to share our complete sports plan by the end of the week.

With some recent shifts in the weather forecast, school will be dismissing at 1:00. All PM activities will be cancelled.

Part of our multisensory approach to reading instruction includes using sand to draw letters while students verbalize the sounds. Here, second grade students are progressing through the day's sequence.

With our new sports seasons and guidlines we have yet to determine what to do as far as spectators are concerned. That will be decided soon, when we can get all the great minds together. Whatever is decided that is what all will have to live with.

A lot has happened in a VERY short period of time. In the span of a week we went from being on pause, rapidly through phases almost daily, to now where we can do almost anything we want. Go figure! Our seasons as they stand today:JH volleyball Feb.1-27, JH Boys Basketball Feb.1-March 6, JH Girls Basketball March 8-April 10. HS still to be determined. Sorry, gotta go folks. I have many new schedules to make!

Just hanging out waiting for the kids to come back Monday. I tried, but I can't convince this guy that it's not that cold out here.

Thanks to some excess Title money, we have been able to further update classroom instructional technology. The 65" LED displays are much easier for students to see and using an iPad as a mobile interactive board means the teacher can instruct from anywhere in the room.

Saturday is the day! Ruritan Club breakfast is back after taking off a couple of months. Join us in supporting a group that does so much for the community and school.

A new art sculpture adorns the front foyer!

This has been a trying year to say the least. We can play, we can play with limitations, we can't play. We've adjusted to it all and stayed prepared for what might be. The last couple of nights going from gym to gym and seeing basketballs bouncing, volleyballs being served, kids laughing, playing together, preparing to compete. After all we've been through this is very refreshing and reminds me just why I do this.

2nd grade is practicing their red words this afternoon.

We are now in tier 1 mitigation which allows somewhat of a return of sports teams. To that affect, boys HS basketball will practice Tuesday 3 :20 to 4:40, HS volleyball 5-7, and JH boys basketball 3:10-5 for grades 6-8, and 5-7 grades 4-5. Good to be back!

Special thanks to the Bluford Retired Teachers for the 24 books donated to the 4th Grade in memory of Donna Miller.

Donna Miller served BGS for 40 years as a teacher. She passed away in mid-December. The fourth grade class created an art exhibit in her honor. In addition to that, memorial money was donated to purchase books for the BGS library. Her legacy will live on at BGS.
