First grade was working on fact families today. It was great to watch as peers shared their work and offered to help one another!




Cheyenne Dixon was presented with a bag full of prizes today! She won 1st place in WMIX's Letters of Thanksgiving writing competition! Her essay was chosen from over 1,000 entries across Mt. Vernon, Marion, and Carbondale!





The school district is thrilled to announce that we are adding a K-12 music program beginning in January. Ms. Pierce will be joining the team to teach vocal music to all students K-5 twice a week. Junior high and high school will be by student choice as an elective!

Thank you to Karen Pelker and the Mt. Vernon Rotary West for providing, "The Best Dictionary for Students" to our third grade! I learned that the longest published word in the English language has 1,909 letters. Look it up to see how to spell it!



6th grade is having a debate over renewable energies. There have some far fetched and intriguing arguments.




We have collected 32 pairs of socks! We appreciate everyone who has donated to this Socks for Seniors project. We have about 2 weeks left!
