MS Cross Country Results @ Woodlawn: Posted by Coach JP
15 Trojans and Lady Trojans ran at Woodlawn on Saturday morning going against stiff competition as they faced several county schools, but several outside the county as well which included the Class L Salem Wildcats.
The Bluford-Farrington runners were undeterred, with 10 of our 15 runners taking home medals, all 15 kids shattering their expected times for the day, the girls varsity squad pulling together a very nice 3rd place finish, and the boys varsity squad stepping up and pulling out the upset over the class L school, taking home 1st place in a 47-48 win!(lowest score wins)
Full Results are below(I apologize for any misspelling of names!) I cannot emphasize enough how great all these kids ran!

Thank you to everyone who has completed our School Store Fundraiser. Our school is currently at over 60% completion rate. If you haven't filled it out yet, but still want to, there is still time. I have ordered more prizes that will be here next week. I will continue to collect completed prize codes through next Friday.
I do not know if this has EVER happened before but it is at least very rare. Our JH baseball and softball teams both won today at Wayne City with each pitcher throwing a no hitter in their respective games. You read that right. 2 no hitters we threw today. Maryn Sneed struck out 11 in her no hitter, while Owen Burke struck.out 21 in his gem. All I can say is WOW!
Webber HS is sponsoring our first blood drive for the new school year on Wednesday, September 6th from 1-5pm in the Grade School Gym. Donating blood helps earn our senior Beta Members scholarships to use towards their college education. We hope to see you there!
Results from Murphysboro: Full 5K Race
Posted by Coach JP
31 schools were represented, with 18 teams on the boys side sporting full squads. A solid 8th place finish in a tough field for the boys, as well as PRs across the board for the boys and girls. 8th is the best the boys have ever finished at Murphysboro, and all the boys agreed they could have had better races. Nothing better than a good result and room to improve. Both girls had major PRs at the course. The next meet will be next Thursday at West Frankfort.

I've been Athletic Director here for (seems like 13 years) a while now. I have supervised MANY events. If last nights HS VB game wasn't thee best event I have seen, it is certainly in the top 5.. Our gals played their hearts out, could have given up numerous times, was 1 point away from defeat on several occasions, yet managed to gut out a very intense, hard fought conference win beating rival Wayne City 2 games to 1. I applaud our VB gals and coaching staff for an impressive effort last night.
Second, I have to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of our student section. It was Barbie Night (which made me a little nervous to start with), and they cheered their guts out for our gals. VERY appropriately I might add. They were well behaved and really, really supporting our gals. That's exactly what I envisioned that area being when I created it long ago. I give the students an assist in that one. Good job group!
All things considered, the intense game, the emotions, the crowd, the students, the outcome, I was very proud to be a Trojan. Great job all.
High School XC heads to the Murphysboro Invitational to take on 20+ other programs in their first race of the season! Results will be posted after the meet!
Any student in grade 5-8 interested in joining Robotics Club can sign up on Wednesday, August 30th from 5-6 in Mrs. Snow's room. If you are unable to attend, you can also email Mrs. Snow at asnow@blufordschools.org.
Mrs. Sherwin's 3rd grade is using the heat to do a science experiment.

Mr. Gowler's Conservation class practiced tying fishing knots today.
The Field JH CC meet Saturday itself was not canceled. We are just canceling our participation given the circumstances.
We are in need of substitute aides for both the grade school and high school. If you have a paraprofessional license and are interested in subbing, please contact the office.
Also, we are still searching for bus drivers, full time and substitutes! If you currently have a CDL or are wanting to get one, we could use your help! It is a rewarding job, with minimal hours in the morning and afternoon. Great way to supplement income with a current job or as a retiree looking for extra revenue.
Just to clarify, the JH CC meet Saturday at Field has been canceled along with all our other events canceled for this week. I will try to find another meet on a more suitable day.
Bluford Ruritan Club Breakfast!!
Some athletic changes to note:
The JH Baseball/Softball game vs Jasper Sept. 16 has been moved to Mon. Aug.28, 6:00. Baseball will be at Veterans Field in Fairfield, Softball will be at Southwest Park in Fairfield. Again, start time 6:00 for both.
HS BB has a reschedule game Wed. Aug. 30 Here vs. South Central 5:30.
Stay tuned for more updates surely to come. Thanks a ton Mother Nature.
I put this out yesterday but I was told it didn't take for whatever reason so I'll give it another go. Webber/Bluford outdoor activities: Baseball, Softball, Cross Country, are all canceled for the rest of this week, Aug. 22-26. I tried pushing back start times but with this heat even that was not enough. With safety in mind we made this decision. Each coach was instructed in what to do to have a safe practice should they opt to hold one. I am doing my best to reschedule what I can. Stay tuned sports fans.
