It was an exciting weekend for the HS and MS Cross Country Programs! The Middle School squads headed to Mt Vernon High School running the Summersville Invite. All the kids ran great, and the Varsity boys squad came home with another 1st place finish! This is the 3rd first place finish as a team this season! Lily Rains also medaled for the girls team! Overall great performances for the middle school teams! The High School squads headed to a huge meet in Peoria, with over 3000 runners! It was one of the most competitive meets in the state, and our kids stepped up to the task! 9 of the 11 runners from our program this weekend had new personal records against tough 2A and 3A competition. There were over 70 different teams at the meet! Races of the day include Jr. Jaxon Dalby who broke 16:00 minutes for the first time in his career, running 15:51! SO. Axtyn Sherlock broke 20:00 minutes for the first time, doing so in exciting fashion running an official time of 19:59.9! Before this meet Axtyn had never broke 21:00 minutes before! What a race!

Please keep our fellow school communities of Benton and West Frankfort in your thoughts and prayers as they suffered a tragic loss yesterday involving students from both communities. In a world of negativity, we need to stand together to support each other and our local schools. Trojan Nation is behind you!
