Meet Highlights from the Du Quoin Boys High School Track and Field Meet last night.
Our boys Webber-Wayne high school track and field squad competed at Du Quoin last night against 15 other schools that included mostly 2A competition. The boys came away with several good races in a highly competitive meet. Teams that competed included but are not limited to: Du Quoin, Marion, Carmi, Pinckneyville, Eldorado, Carterville, Sesser, Christopher, and Steeleville.
The boys 4x100 of James Walker, Ashton James, Damian Fleener, and Carter Bain placed 6th out of 11 teams.
The boys 4x200 of James Walker, Ashton James,Damian Fleener, and Carter Bain placed 3rd out of 11 teams.
Our boys 4x400 had an awesome 2 second PR race of 3:47.34 that finished 2nd out of 9 teams as a strong comeback fell just short of first place Pinckneyville. That squad was Ashton James, Jaxon Dalby, Nathaniel Marlow, and Anchor Damian Fleener. This race was awesome to watch!
The 4x800 of Brennan Tate, Colter Stone, Nathaniel Marlow and Jaxon Dalby attempted to mount a similar comeback against Pinckneyville, also placing 2nd out of 9 teams and having a PR time of 9:08!
The Race of the day came in our men's 1600m run(1 mile) where we had two athletes break the 6 minute mark. Connor Withrow broke 6 for the second time with a 5:52, while Gavin Hardy joined his teammate in breaking 6 with a time of 5:56! We are so proud of these two for all their hard work this season so far!
It was an overall awesome meet for not competing for a week and a half. They guys showed up! Our next meet is next Tuesday back at Duquoin for the Bob Karnes Relays.
