The Bluford Board of Education held the FY2025 Budget Hearing Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 5:45pm. Fund balances were disclosed and the budget was explained by the Superintendent. Following the budget hearing, the regular September Board meeting was held at 6pm.

The following items were discussed and action taken:

1. Approval of the Minutes for the August 15, 2024 Regular Board of Education Meeting;

Approval of Executive Session Minutes from August 15, 2024 to remain confidential; 

Approval of the Semi-Annual Review of Executive Session Minutes from March 2024 - August 2024 and to remain confidential; Approval of Bills for September 2024; Approval of Financial Reports for August 2024; Approval of Suspensions Imposed by Building Administrators for August 2024;

2. Superintendent, Principals and Maintenance Reports were given. The superintendent gave information about tax rate comparison for other districts in Jefferson County as well as information on the current transportation fleet for the school district. Principals and maintenance report also updated the board on recent happenings, positive student and staff highlights, and upcoming events. 

3. Information on 5 FOIA Requests from North Egypt News regarding Staff Information, Calendar, Extra Curriculars, Salaries, New/Retiring Staff, Enrollment.

4. Approval of the FY25 Budget to be put on display. Fund balances were disclosed in the budget hearing. The budget is available on the district website.

5. Approval of the final reading of Board Policy Updates, from August 2024 Press Plus Update 116, as presented.


6. Approval of an overnight trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN on October 22-25, 2024.


7. Approval to declare district equipment as surplus for recycling, as presented.


8. Approval of Sports Officials Pay Rate Increases, as presented.


9. Approval of the Coop Agreement with Wayne City for High School Bowling.


10. Approval of an Addendum to the 2024-2025 Student/Parent Handbook.


The Board entered into Executive Session and the following items were approved following executive session:

  • Retirement/Resignation from the following: Bob Hamerski (Retirement effective Oct. 4, 2024), Karen Putt (4 year letter of retirement effective the end of the 27-28 school year), Jeremy Tate (Resignation as HS Asst. Fall and Spring Baseball Coach), Destiny Massie (Resignation as HS Asst. Softball Coach)

  • Employment the following individuals: Chad Shreves (HS Fall Asst. Baseball Coach)

  • Posting for Special Education Aide, HS Asst. Softball Coach, HS Asst. Spring Baseball Coach, District Athletic Director.
