Following the vacancy by Ms. Monica Marlow, the Bluford Board of Education appointed Mr. Steven Tate to the Board of Education at last night's regular meeting held on July 18, 2024.
Mr. Tate, was a former Board Member from February 2018-April 2023, during which time he served as President from 2019-2023. When asked about filling the vacancy and serving on the Board again, Tate said "he looks forward to contributing to the educational excellence of our community. I want to see the district continue to grow and succeed."
Mrs. Jenny Sneed, Board President stated, "Steve brings experience to the Board of Education and the School District. His work experience in business and accounting will serve the district well in providing stability and financial planning. We look forward to working with Steve to serve the students and community."
Tate currently has his own accounting firm called Steven A. Tate CPA, which he started in 2022, and he is also a member of the Rend Lake College Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
Tate's appointment will run until the consolidated election in 2025, upon which the seat will be elected for a 2-year term.
