The Bluford Board of Education held the FY2024 Amended Budget Hearing on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 5:45PM. Following this, the regular Board meeting was held at 6PM. The following items were discussed and action taken:

1. Approval of the Consent Agenda, including Approval of the Minutes for the May 16, 2024 Regular Board of Education Meeting; Approval of Executive Session Minutes from May 16, 2024 to remain confidential; Approval of Bills for June  2024; Approval of Financial Reports for May 2024; Approval of Suspensions Imposed by Building Administrators for May 2024;

2. Superintendent, Principals and Maintenance Reports were given. Information about the 24-25 school year and financial planning were reported. Summer maintenance projects were also updated.

3. The Board heard information about handicap accessible van bids - no action taken.

4. Information presented on the Community Solar Contract with AGE. No action taken.

5. Approval of the FY2024 Amended Budget, as presented. It is posted on the district website.

6. Approval of the first reading of Board Policy Updates, from June 2024 Press Plus Update 115, as presented.

7. Approval of the first reading of the 2024-2025 Student/Parent Handbook Updates, as presented.

8. Approval of the 

Intergovernmental Agreement with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, as presented.

The Board entered into Executive Session and the following items were approved following executive session:

  • Accepted the letter 

    of

     resignation from the following employees: Sherri Cramer (HS Drama and Student Council Sponsor

  • Employed Whitney Waldman as a Special Education Teacher at Bluford Grade school for the 

    2024

    -2025 school year, pending background check and certification.

  • Employed the following Athletic Coaches for the 

    2024

    -2025 school year:

    • Olivia Heinzman (Jr. High Asst. Softball Coach)

    • Matt Strain (Jr. High Asst. Boys Basketball Coach)

  • Ratified the 2024-2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement

  • Approved the 2024-2025 Grade School and High School Principal's Contracts

  • Approved a 6% salary increase for non-CBA employees (Bookkeeper, District Admin Assistant, and Superintendent) and increased the health insurance benefit to $600 per month.

  • Post for vacant and new positions (HS Drama Club Sponsor, Student Council Sponsor, EOC Aide)
