Parents and students:
It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I welcome you back to school for what is sure to be another excellent school year! I wanted to inform you of some essential information for the coming school year. Our first student attendance day is Friday, August 16. This will be a full day with dismissal at 3:05. The full school year calendar can be found here.
This year all grade levels (K-12) will have a common start and end time. Our school day will begin at 8:10 and end at 3:05. Grade school car riders can be dropped off at the same location as last year, the northwest entrance. All bus riders will be dropped off along the north side of the building where the new asphalt will begin directly east of the main grade school entrance. High school car riders can be dropped off at the main entrance of the high school. High school drivers will enter through the east drive and park in the east and south lots. Parking spots will be assigned once school begins.
Thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision, breakfast and lunch are free for ALL students. Students can purchase an extra milk ($.30), extra breakfast ($1.50), or extra lunch ($2.55) if they wish. The only fee imposed by the district is a $40 book fee which can be conveniently paid online through Teacherease or by sending a check to the office. At the building level, high school students are responsible for class dues.
There will be a Back to School night on Thursday, August 15, from 5:30 - 6:30. Students and families are welcome to bring all of their supplies, meet the teachers, and visit the classrooms. A supply list can be found here. High school students are welcome to visit, see the school, and place belongings in their locker. The lockers do not have built in locks, so if your student wants a lock, please bring one.
I also wanted to provide a quick update on the high school construction. The district took ownership of the interior of the building last Wednesday, which allowed us to move in. Paving the exterior still remains. The south side of the building is to grade, rolled, and ready to pave. Some wet areas on the north side were excavated today and it is expected that the rest of the grading should be complete by the end of the week. If all goes well, paving should begin on Monday. The asphalt company has stated that paving should take about three days.
If you have any questions related to what health related items are necessary for your child. That information can be found here.
Finally, the following staff members are new to the district this year.
